Austin Gamey Supports 24-Hour Economy as Key to Rebuild Ghana's Economy
A labour dispute resolution expert and consultant, Mr. Austin Gamey has described the proposed 24-hour economy as not just a mere game changer but also a dominance of everything done in Ghana.
He said the 24-hour economy is the practice of an inclusive economy to open the door for decent job creation, enhanced productivity, assurance of return on the investments of those who will invest, collaboration, and co-creation.
Mr. Gamey in an interview monitored by ATL FM NEWS said the policy if implemented will create elevated cities across Ghana not only Kumasi, Tema, and Accra but everywhere as glamorous places where activities will always be happening right in the streets, movement of people at night, maximum use of apartments, innovative restaurants, tourism, among others.
Mr. Gamey further emphasized that the 24-hour economy will be a major stepping stone to fulfilling the constitutional provision under Article 36 of the 1992 constitution, which mandates the state to take necessary action to manage the national economy and secure the maximum welfare of all in the country.
He explained that Ghana’s labour law is awash with job creation and its contributing factor is the absence of a 24-hour economy to enable people to work throughout the day as done in other countries.
To him, Ghanaian leaders ought to have a vision that will propel the nation into real stardom.
Mr. Gamey therefore urged the general public and especially the media to subject the policies of all politicians to scrutiny to avoid deception of the Ghanaians.
He also called for an honest public discourse on the 24-hour economy.
