Benefits of John Mahama’s 24-Hour Economy to churches in Ghana
Ghana’s economy is largely informal and this means that individuals largely accrue revenue daily therefore if the economy is doing well individual will be seeing money every day to take care of themselves and their families.
The country's economic hardship is deep such that tithes and offerings provided by church members for the development of the church and its allied institutions have reduced drastically. (GNA,Economic hardship affects church attendance, offertory getting low (modernghana.com))
These individuals who have been hardly hit by the economic mess created by the NPP government are also members of the church. Some have even been laid off and are finding it difficult taking care of themselves because of NPP's bad government.
A lot of businesses have collapsed and because of that many Ghanaians are finding it extremely difficult servicing other personal fixed cost such as electricity, water, housekeeping among others as their daily stream of finance have been truncated..
The effect is that, individual funds such as offertories, tithes, donations, etc. which fed into the church’s pool of financial resources will definitely be dwindled.
At this point the individual will first look at his survival before the church’s interest hence the dwindling effect on the attendance and finances of the church
It is about time Christians rise up and contribute their quota in helping solve the country's economic crisis - we should not leave everything to the politicians but all have a part to play,
Because of how deep the economy of Ghana has sunk, the only hope is “24 Hour Economy”. The next John Mahama’s government will provide enabling environment , build systems infrastructure and create more jobs.
Furthermore, the 24-hour economy will contribute to economic growth by increasing productivity and revenue generation. Extended working hours allow businesses to operate continuously, leading to increased production and service delivery.
This, in turn, stimulates economic growth, attracts foreign investment, and creates a more prosperous environment for Ghanaians leading to cashflow with more money in the pocket.
In turn church members can pay fat thithes and offerings for church expansion and spreading the word of God
